Together with Susan May
and Eddie Gilfoyle Jeremy Bamber’s Campaign Team have written a
document which is being submitted to the Home Affairs Select
Committee (HASC). It is about how the judicial system as a whole
obstructs those who are wrongly convicted, from obtaining documents,
whether they are placed under Public Interest Immunity (PII) or
simply denied to the Defence. It also calls upon the Committee to
review the processes of the Ministry of Justice departments,
including the Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC) the
Information Commissioner's Office (ICO)
the Crime Prosecution Service (CPS) the Police and the Criminal Cases
Review Commission (CCRC) because these bodies simply do not operate
effectively owing to underfunding, organisational restrictions,
political agenda, incompetence and in some cases corruption.
Since August this year I
have been in correspondence with Jeremy Bamber. He has documented
evidence of the tainting of his trail and Appeals of which I have
copies. I have written to my constituency MP John Whittingdale,
enclosing copies of this evidence as well as discussing the situation
with him at his surgery. He was also Jeremy Bamber’s MP before
Jeremy was incarcerated over twenty six years ago. John Whittingdale
is of the opinion that Jeremy Bamber is guilty as charged and when I
asked him as to how I could proceed given the above concerns, he
refused to advise stating that he believes in the law and the British
judicial system. However, this is not an issue about guilt or
innocence but the basic human right to appeal against a conviction
with access to documents; which the law does allow. The
Ministry of Justice are abusing the system at the least, or blatantly
breaking the law at most and help and support is urgently required in
order to bring about change and make prosecution and defence equal
whilst at the same time ensuring transparency throughout all judicial
processes.
As
you can see I am sending copies of this letter and the HASC document
to the Archbishop of York and the Bishop of Chelmsford, hoping to
also secure their support for this campaign.
In
your Presidential Address you said, ‘God’s
incalculable love for every person is the only solid foundation for a
human dignity that is beyond question.’ The
Archbishop of York when speaking of his role said that the priorities
for his ministry have been 'to
seek God's rule of justice’. The
Bishop of Chelmsford likewise to the College of Bishops,
‘living
that life…which hungers for justice..…laments over the
shortcomings and horrors of the world.’ There
could be a no more worthier cause for justice than this campaign so I
would ask that you support this application by formally adding your
name to the campaign by responding to myself or alternately directly
to the HASC, either referencing the document or enclosing a copy of
it.
